Meet Sarah Harlow

Not your average photographer.

Hi, I’m Sarah!

Nice to meet you!

My venture into photography started 14 years ago. I fell in love with newborn and family photography. I already had a diploma in business so I went back to college for photography. I also studied with some of the top Newborn Photographers around the globe. I quickly became one of the best in my field; winning awards and teaching newborn posing. I have been referred to as “The Baby Whisperer”.

Over the past 8 years, my business and direction shifted quite a bit. While I have always enjoyed photographing women, I started shooting self-portraits and boudoir photography. I used my photography as a way to express myself. It started lighting me up as much as newborn photography did at the beginning of my career. I found another passion and had to learn everything I could about it.

At this point, I started taking photos of women in all different settings. Intimate, sexy, classy, sassy, bad-assy. Being an empath has really helped me tune into my clients and produce outstanding results. From doing my own portraits for years, I am easily able to recognize what is flattering and what isn’t. Over my career, I have photographed thousands upon thousands of women. All different shapes and sizes, in all different stages of life. I have had many of my clients come back to me weeks, months, and years even, after their sessions to tell me what my photoshoot did for them. It helped them love themselves a little deeper, be a little more confident, and feel amazing.

Two things I am passionate about are light and art.

I am a lover of light. Light makes me happy, and I'm not talking just about light that comes on a sunny day. I love candlelight, coloured light, natural light, and studio light. Light is one of the biggest components of photography. It can make or break an image. I have studied both studio light and natural light over the course of my career, and I am well-versed in both. Correct light manipulation has the ability to evoke an entire feeling from a photograph. Light is one of my favourite things about photography.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have had a deep passion for the arts. I use art in many different forms as therapy. I paint, I sing, I draw, I write, I dance. I may not do any of these things very well, but that doesn’t matter. You don’t have to be a skilled artist to enjoy the benefits that art can bring to your life. Art keeps me grounded, happy, and in tune with myself.

The pandemic was rough on me as a small business owner. Opening and closing my studio doors too many times to count. As a studio owner, opening and closing my studio doors so many times caused a great deal of stress. I became very sick and later found out that I have celiac disease. As a result, I was in and out of the hospital for a year. I thought I was going to die a few times. I felt very alone. So again, I grasped onto art during my dark time, just as I did when I quit drinking alcohol 6 years before. This time, I would paint, draw, shoot, ect. All forms of art, depending on how I was feeling that day. It relieved my anxiety and helped me to process my emotions.

Creating art helps me get out of my mind and into my body.

This led me to combine my self portraits with my love for the arts. I started creating sets from my visualizations. My hard time was what FUELED this brand. I started turning myself into art, and then my clients. Showing them how fucking beautiful they are, even in their dark times. Showing them that they are not alone. We are all one.

This is how SHE IS ART was formed. S-HE is a play on SHE and HE. It encompasses both our masculine and feminine energies, as well as our shadow and light. Opposing forces form one whole being. I like to bring forth ALL of these energies during my sessions, and it makes for outstanding images.

My sessions are edgy, creative, unique, and hella fun.

Due to my diverse background, I am skilled in many different types of photography, editing, and lighting. I am a quick thinker and can create many different types of visions.

If you’re looking to STAND OUT online, in magazines, or on billboards, then this is where you need to be. I work with you to bring your vision to life. And if you don’t have a specific vision yet, that’s okay! I will help you with the entire process to ensure that the end result is exactly what you were looking for, even if you can’t see it yet.

My team and I service individuals, couples, personal brands, influencers, brands, fitness brands, magazines, etc.

Allow me to turn YOU into ART.
